There are plenty of things to do, things to see and activities in North Wales for families with children of all ages. Irrespective of whether you are looking for fun filled attractions for toddlers, thrilling adventure rides for teenagers or activities that the whole family can enjoy, you are sure to find an attraction that is perfect for you and your family.
The same goes for Gimblet Rock Holiday Park which is all about families. Here you can choose from a range of different lodges and static caravans which can accommodate up to eight guests, which is perfect for larger families. All of our accommodation comes with central heating, double glazing and self catering facilities so that you can keep expenditure to a minimum.
Other on-site facilities you are welcome to take advantage of include our heated indoor swimming pool, gym and children’s play areas. We also have our own on-site bar and restaurant if you are looking to treat yourselves to a sensational meal at a diner that is right on your holiday home doorstep.
Another great feature that is available to guests staying at Gimblet Rock Holiday Park is the fact that we offer guests direct access to the beach! You can walk down to the beach each morning with your bucket and spade in hand ready for another traditional British day out at the seaside or perhaps take to the Pwllheli promenade and complete a glorious coastal walk.
The town centre of Pwllheli is your quintessential British seaside resort, with everything from traditional amusement arcades and fish and chip shops, to children’s fair grounds and ice cream vendors.
There are also a wide array of activities in North Wales for families to take advantage of off park too. This includes the nearby Glasfryn Parc which is the ultimate family adventure centre. Here you will be able to choose from thrilling go-karts, an exciting water park, archery competitions, a children’s soft play area and even a ten-pin bowling alley that the whole family can enjoy. Glasfryn Parc genuinely has something for everyone and in all weather conditions.
Looking for something a little more cultured and educational? Then head to Plas Glyn y Weddw art gallery which showcases the works of some of the region’s most notable artists. The on-site cafe here is award winning too, so is well worth a visit if you are on-site.
Our resort is also located just a short drive away from Abersoch which is famous for being one of the watersports capitals of the UK. Here you can try your hand at surfing, canoeing, wild swimming, sailing or simply relax on the idyllic sandy beach. The village high street also reflects the watersport focus, with plenty of training centres and stores owned by famous water sport focused brands such as Animal and Crew Clothing.
If you are operating on a tight budget and keen to find free things to do in North Wales, then a day at Abersoch beach or a stroll along the Pwllheli promenade are both worthy of consideration. Alternatively you may want to travel further afield and visit the world famous Snowdon Mountain which is the highest peak in North Wales. This is the first of the activities in North Wales for families that we recommend, with there being six different routes to the summit to choose from. These vary in difficulty with the easiest and most popular route being the Llanberis Path. This still covers a total distance of nine miles there and back, so probably isn’t the best option for little legs.
For the lucky few for whom money is no object, then we’d strongly recommend making the most of the Zip World attractions in North Wales. There are now five Zip World venues to choose from in the North Wales region thanks to the group's rapid expansion. Perhaps the best destination for those with young children would be their Conwy site which has a soft play area and indoor climbing adventures for adults and older children. All of the Conwy activities take place indoors, making it an ideal all weather attraction.
If you are looking for activities in North Wales for families with older children, then the original Zip World site in Penrhyn Quarry is a great option. Here you will find the world’s fastest zipline, a thrilling downhill go-karting course and slightly more sedate tours of the quarry. Prior booking is recommended for all Zip World attractions with many also being weather dependent.
This is just a short sample of the many activities in North Wales for families. Still not found anything that you like the sound of? Then head over to our blog to learn more about the many activities and attractions that are available in the region around our resort.
