From family friendly gastropubs to traditional fish and chips shops, you are sure to find a restaurant that is right for you and your fellow diners.
We’ve taken on the job of personally reviewing the many restaurants in Pwllheli to find what we consider to be the very best. Without further ado, here are our recommendations.
1. Whitehall Pwllheli
Pwllheli pubs and restaurants don’t come much better than the exquisite Whitehall Pwllheli restaurant which lies right in the heart of this quirky market town.
Situated in a grade 2 listed building which was constructed in 1818, and is owned by a local family who are proud to utilise local ingredients in order to showcase the very best cuisine that the Pwllheli region has to offer.
All food is freshly made on-site in this family friendly gastropub which has a dedicated children’s menu and traditional Sunday lunch options. We strongly recommend trying the fish pie which is simply out of this world.
2. Pwllheli Tandoori Restaurant
If you prefer something with a bit of spice, then you’ll love the Pwllheli Tandoori restaurant located in Penlan street.
The team on-site aims to showcase the very best of Indian spices via an eclectic menu made up of sizzling tandoori meals alongside mouth-watering curries. You’ll find all the usual Indian favourites from the mild Korma through to the spicy Vindaloo. There are also vegetarian variants of most dishes too.
If you are in the mood for something a little different, then we would recommend the staff made Welsh lamb curry which genuinely combines the very best of Indian and Welsh cuisine in one sumptuous meal.
3. Pili Palas Café
Situated at the top of the main Stryd Moch street in Pwllheli, Pili Palas café is a family owned establishment which is the perfect place to visit if you are looking for a lunchtime treat.
You can choose from traditional sandwiches and hot ciabattas all served with a side salad and Tyrrell Crisps. One of the slightly more unusual ciabattas to choose from is the bacon, egg and black pudding option which is a great option for brunch.
However, we would highly recommend trying their spicy Welsh rarebit which is served with grilled bacon. It truly is a taste sensation.
4. Arvonia Fish & Chips
It wouldn’t be a British seaside destination if you couldn’t eat fish and chips, and the best place to head if you are looking to indulge in this tradition is Arvonia Fish & Chips which is located across the road from the Pwllheli Tandoori Restaurant.
You can dine in or takeout here with the interior dining area adhering to a rustic marine theme. There are many that claim that the fish & chips here are the best in the North Wales region and there is no doubting their exceptional quality.
If you are looking for a slightly less calorific option, then you can also opt for jacket potatoes which are served with beans, cheese or chilli con carne.
5. Caffi Sol
If you are dining with children, then we’d strongly recommend Caffi Sol which is situated right next to Pwllheli’s Amusement Arcades.
Open from 9am till 4pm, Caffi Sol serves a sensational full English breakfast which certainly won’t leave you with room for more. Heading into lunchtime they serve everything from light bite paninis all the way through to your traditional fish & chips and hearty mains such as their fabulous chicken curry.
There is also a dedicated children's menu so that you kids can also enjoy a bite to eat before heading over to the arcades.
